"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?" Drawings, collages and photograms feature a plethora of arrows that guide a visitor to Shanghai around the city, past the indecipherable (to me) chinese characters. On the floor, walls and ceilings they inform and control pedestrian flows, but still the city disorientates. The title of this body of work is taken from the moment in Alice in Wonderland when she asks the Cheshire Cat for direction. |
